Jeremy Starr is a Program Officer in the Drug Development Section of the Office of Biodefense, Research Resources & Translational Research (OBRRTR) in the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID) of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Starr earned his Ph.D. as an NSF fellow in organic chemistry from California Institute of Technology and completed an NIH post-doc at Harvard. He then worked in the antibacterial discovery group at Pfizer as a lab leader and project leader for 10 years followed by 7 years leading a synthesis lab focused on novel drug mechanisms such as covalent target modification and targeted protein degradation. Dr. Starr joined NIAID in 2020 and he now works to advance external antibacterial and antiviral agents, as well as vaccines and diagnostics, through NIAID product development contracts and preclinical services.
