Joanna Wiecek, PHD

Science Officer

Joanna Wiecek is a Science officer in Wellcome’s Drug Resistant Infections team where she oversees multiple activities within the antimicrobial scope of Wellcome’s priority programme. She is a science support to CARB-X where she helps companies in their efforts to develop new antibiotic therapies and diagnostic devices. Joanna joined Wellcome Trust in February 2018 after working in research & development in industry within the field of personal care and anti-infectives. Prior to that, she was based at University College London where she completed her PhD in molecular microbiology and worked as a postdoctoral researcher on oral healthcare products in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline.
