Maria Uria-Nickelsen spent more than 20 years in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries working initially as a scientist and team leader and later on as a project, regulatory and clinical operations manager.  She obtained her PhD in Microbiology from the University of Connecticut and Postdoctoral training at the Harvard Medical School.
