CARB-X, a Boston University Global Partnership, has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our core team at Boston University in the role of Financial Administrator. CARB-X is a new organization located at the BU School of Law, focused on accelerating the pre-clinical development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics to address antibiotic resistance. The Financial Administrator is a new role on the growing team of CARB-X. Reporting to the Director of Finance & Compliance, the Financial Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of CARB-X core operations. This includes, but is not limited to, financial transactions, travel report approval, expense account review and reconciliation, vendor contract management, financial process and policy improvements, and financial and grant reporting. CARB-X is a fast-paced environment where creativity, flexibility, and collaboration are essential. In this role, you will work as part of a dedicated CARB-X core team and with BU offices, to achieve goals and maximize the overall effectiveness of the program. You will interact with BU staff and systems, as well as CARB-X partners and vendors. This is a full-time, grant-funded position, located on the Charles River Campus of Boston University. CARB-X is currently in Year 3 of 5 of its principal grant funding.Doctoral degree required with more than eight years’ work experience.

Required Skills

Minimum of five years of relevant work experience; knowledge of financial statements and accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required Strong organizational skills necessary Demonstrated experience with financial systems and data query tools; experience with BU financial systems, particularly SAP and Concur, preferred Previous experience in a university financial or research administration setting desirable Comfortable saying no to expense requests that do not meet grant or university requirements. Adaptability, dependability, and willingness to build new tools and processes from scratch are essential skills
